Prenton Park
Home of Tranmere Rovers in Birkenhead, capacity 12,597. Away fans are in the Cowsheds Stand. Cross-river from Liverpool on Merseyrail, easy enough day out.
Prenton Park away guide
Away fans go in the Cowsheds Stand, and the catering inside serves alcohol, which is rarer than it should be. Wheelchair users are somewhere else, three spaces plus carers in the Bebington Paddock, booked through your own club. Leftover tickets go on sale at the ticket booth from 1.30pm and pre-bought ones come from the club shop at the same time. Leave the drum at home unless your SLO has squared it with theirs.
Tranmere do not publish a bag rule for Prenton Park, so travel light and expect to be searched on the way in.
Based on standard Football League ground policy. Check the club's official site before travel.
Rock Ferry is the closest Merseyrail station, a 15-minute walk: right out of the station onto Bedford Road, keep going through Bedford Avenue and Bedford Drive to the junction past Prenton High School, onto Mount Road, then right at the first lights onto Borough Road and the ground is five minutes down on the left. Birkenhead Central is about 20 minutes along Borough Road. From Liverpool Lime Street use the Wirral Line lower level: New Brighton or West Kirby trains for Conway Park, Ellesmere Port or Chester trains for Birkenhead Central or Rock Ferry. Driving, the ground car park is £6 and needs booking at trfctickets.co.uk, and watch the residents' parking scheme that covers a lot of the streets round about. The away end has stoma-friendly toilets and a quiet room, and the nearest cash machine is 50 metres behind it outside Tesco on Borough Road.
